Spiderman Birthday Party

Spiderman Birthday Party!

Spiderman

(click here for a birthday supply checklist)

Invitations:

  • Use the great invitations in this Spiderman Birthdaypackage, or make your own: Using any color construction paper cut an octagon shape, connecting the corners with a black felt tip pen. Then fill in the "web" by drawing lines across the wedges. Easy! Write the party details on the back of the invitation.
  • For decorations, create a web that leads guests to the party area using black yarn strung from the ceiling. Kids can "swing" from one strand to the next to arrive.

Games:

  • Try a pinata full of Spidey-toys or candy to keep your guests entertained.
  • Create your own Spiderman game which is a version of Pin-the-tail, where kids stick spiders on Spiderman.
  • Spider Web Relay - Elusive webs keep kids one step ahead in this fun relay game! Before the game, draw and cut out four spider webs from posterboard. Each web should be approximately 12-15” in diameter. To begin the game, divide your guests into two teams and establish a start/finish line. Give the first player on each team two webs. The first person in line must place a spider web in front of him and step on it. Then, he must place the second spider web in front of the first and step from the first web to the second, and so on. This continues until he has walked across the room, around a designated point, and returned to his team. The next player in line must do the same, until each player on the team has had a turn. The team to finish first wins!
  • Web Maze Game - This crazy game will keep everyone laughing! Tell your guests to form a circle and face one another. Instruct the children to extend their right hands into the ring and take a hold of someone else’s hand. Then, tell them to do the same with their left hands. Challenge your guests to untangle the "web" by stepping over or ducking under others, and turning around. Whatever the children do, they must not let go of one another’s hands until the web is untangled!
  • Break out the cans of silly string and let them catch each other in webs. Easy to do, and they'll really like this one!
  • Spiderman Throw Game - Make a felt web wall hanging, and let the kids throw velcro covered balls at it, seeing who can get closest to the center.

Activities:

  • Copy the Spider-man activity sheets from Spiderman archival website, and let the guests color, draw, etc. When they've finished, make a take home book for each child. Let them select a color of construction paper, gather their activity sheets, and staple together for a book that is completely unique! Put their names on the cover, such as "Jackson's Spider-man Book."
  • Play Spiderman videos or read a Spiderman comic book to the guests as a "cool-down" before leaving the party. (Moms will thank you!)
  • Glowing Spider Webs - this idea is from Martha Stewart, who really gets into Halloween. You could let older kids make their own web, or make them ahead of time as a party favor. Click here for the Spider Web instructions.

Food:

  • Spider cupcakes - using gumdrops for the body, and black string licorice for legs, create a spider on top of each cupcake. Or, let the kids make their own before eating!
  • Web cookies - with black icing, draw a spider web on circle sugar cookies for fun web cookies! Another Martha Stewart recipe is available for Spiderweb cookies.
  • Super-hero subs - let the guests build their own Super-sandwich with deli meats, cheese, and fixings.
