Thomas the Tank Engine Visits Roaring Camp!

Day Out With Thomas at Roaring Camp

Don't miss this visit from Thomas the Tank Engine being hosted by Roaring Camp in Felton starting this Saturday, September 14 through Sunday, September 22. As you cross an enchanted covered bridge into the grounds, you are transformed into a time when steam engines ruled the rails, more specifically, Thomas and his friends. (If you don't know who Thomas is, check his website.)

You and your family can take a ride on Thomas' train through the redwoods by Roaring Camp, have your picture taken with Thomas, and participate in the many activities and games around the station. While you're there, look for Sir Topham Hatt as he walks around supervising his railway. There will also be videos shown in the Thomas Theater, food from the Chuckwagon BBQ, interactive exhibits, and Thomas music throughout.

The event itself is FREE, and tickets are being sold for train rides that run every 30 minutes. The only other cost will be if you are daring and go into the special Thomas the Tank Engine Store that Roaring Camp has setup for the event. You guessed it, they'll have everything made by Thomas & Friends, including sleeping bags, bedding, backpacks, and every train imaginable.

On Friday, Thomas will have a special run for children from Stanford Children's Hospital, the Ronald McDonald House, and childrens shelters, who otherwise would not have been able to be a part of this magical tour. San Jose Families.com wants to thank Roaring Camp, Thomas & Friends, and Greyline of San Francisco for making this possible. For the general public, Saturday will be Opening Day.

This really is a great event for the family, and one of only two visits to California (Roaring Camp and Sacramento)...we hear that families from L.A. are flying up just to see Thomas the Tank Engine! In our house, we had to make a calendar to count down the days until Thomas arrived (yes, I made the mistake of telling my 3-year-old when I first found out a month ago!)

See you there!
