Roaring Camp's Rain Forest Train Rides
Roaring Camp's Rain Forest
Train Rides
New tours of California's rain
forest are being offered on January, February and March weekends
at Roaring Camp.
Georgiana Clark, the CEO of
Roaring Camp, had this to say about her winter railway rides,
"Few people realize that California has its own rain
forest...our coastal redwoods. Winter is when California's rain
forest is most dramatic. Storms whip branches; foliage glistens;
and the air is filled with marvelously pungent aromas. Best of
all, traveling through the forest by steam train puts you at
branch level as the train huffs and puffs over trestles and up
the mountainside."
The new Rain Forest Weekend
excursions include added narration by naturalists as the trains
travel through the Welch Grove of Big Trees (the first grove of
virgin coastal redwoods protected from logging in 1867).
Plus, $2 from each ticket is being
donated by Roaring Camp to the Sempervirens Fund, which preserves
the Santa Cruz Mountain redwoods.
